Each year, the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation and the Santo Domingo International Book Fair bestows this Award as recognition of and encouragement for writers. It originates from and is justified by the boom reached by the Dominican literature, both in terms of the number of new published titles and the continuous increase of its quality. Additionally, with the purpose of bringing to light the value of books by national authors, we highlight their intellectual and literary work by exhibiting them at the International Book Fair, the main cultural event of the Dominican Republic and a platform for the projection of Dominican books.
